The fair is in town! Come spend the 4th of July with the Mid-South Pullers Association at the Western Kentucky State Fair this weekend. The Western Kentucky State Fair, located in Hopkinsville, KY, will be hosting a 2-day event on July 4th and 5th. There's nothing like taking in a few rides and sampling some of the fair food. Then to top it off, get a seat in the grand stands and watch a great pull. The fair pull has been an annual event in Hopkinsville for many years. On Friday (the 4th) there will be a 30 minute fireworks display at dark (approximately 9:00 pm). For those that have never been to the fair pull you can get there from I-24 by turning on HWY 68 or HWY 41A. Hopkinsville has always drawn in great competition so you don't want to miss this pull. You may very well see some Grand National pullers make there way in. The Hoptown area is home to many pulling families such as David Folz, Kelly Keith, Jon Hancock, Darrin & Brandon Hunt, Rob Bonino, and the late Ronald & David Berry.
One of the treats for the pullers will happen Saturday around lunch time. Folz Follies! (There is a 5 star restaurant in Memphis called Folk's Follies and the feast at Folz's will be of similar nature.) The Folz family (of Runnin' Behind fame) will have a feast for the pullers at their farm. Charlie and the rest of the Folz family are probably already cooking! It's G O O D!!!
The 2-Day event will feature the 6,000# Super Stock, 8,000# Super Stock, 10,000# Pro Stock tractors, 6,200 # Super Modified Four-Wheel Drive trucks, 6,000# Pro Stock FWD Trucks and the 9,300# Super Farm Tractors each night. Sam Swann and his Southern Impact sled will be on hand to put a stop to the competition. The first hook will be at 7:00PM following the National Anthem each night.
It should be a great weekend. I hope to see you there!
